** Black Swamp Gamers will be hosting our next tournament of SCRABBLE on SATURDAY JUNE 27th at 1PM **
Tournament rules are as follows:
- There will be 3 tables with 4 players each. Each game will be using standard Scrabble board with all necessary tiles.
- Only ENGLISH words will be used using the official scrabble dictionary – https://scrabble.merriam.com/
- Players will have the ability to “challange” words that another player adds to the play area. In these situations and before any new tiles are drawn from the bag, a player will announce a challange then play is paused. The word in question is provided to a judge to determine via an internet search to the official scrabble dictionary website to determine if its valid. IF the word is valid, the player that challanged will LOSE a turn and game play continues. If the Active players word is INVALID, they will return their tiles to their tray and lose their turn.
- Towards the end of a game, a reference sheet of 2 letter words MAY be passed around if all players at the table agree to its use. This will be used in a manner to help speed up end of game play before no more words can be made.
- Gameplay will end once one player has used ALL their tiles from their game tray and the bag is empty.
- Each game will have a maximum time limit of 1 hour and 30 minutes, and there will be 3 games total played, with a forth game being the final top 4 players.
- Player scores will be recorded after each game. Just like in past tournaments, we’ll determine the Final 4 players based on their win percentage — calculated from the total points scored in each game. Players with higher scores will earn a higher percentage ranking compared to others.
- After the first two games, the top 4 players with the highest overall percentages will move on to the final game.
- Participants will be asked to donate $10 for their seat reservation then the club will gift the following totals to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, **assuming all 12 seats are filled – Not not all seats filled, will spilt based on players concensus.
- 1st place – $30
- 2nd place – $20
- 3rd place – $10
